Knowledge Transfer

Practical learning, shared knowledge and useful connections

The Knowledge Transfer programme will bring people and businesses from across the Welsh Forestry & Timber sector together to explore relevant topics, share experience and learn from one another.

We'll deliver 8 Knowledge Transfer events during the programme, using a mixture of face-to-face, online and potentially hybrid formats. Events will be shaped around the needs and interests of the sector, with topics informed by sector engagement, emerging priorities and discussion with Welsh Government. The format will be chosen to suit the topic and the people we want to reach, and may include workshops, webinars, networking and seminar-style events.

Who is it for?

Knowledge Transfer events are open to anyone involved in the Forestry & Timber sector in Wales.

This can include:

  • forestry and woodland businesses and organisations

  • people working across the Forestry & Timber supply chain

  • business owners, managers and employees

  • new entrants and people interested in developing their role in the sector

  • relevant organisations, stakeholders and others with an interest in forestry and timber

You don't need to take part in Skills Development Support to attend Knowledge Transfer events.

How will it work?

We want the programme to respond to what the sector actually needs. Topics will be informed by registration information, direct sector engagement, market intelligence, participant needs, feedback and emerging priorities.

The events will provide opportunities to learn from others, share experience, explore new ideas and discuss issues affecting the Forestry & Timber sector. The format will vary depending on the topic and may include practical workshop-style activity, online learning, presentations, discussion and networking.

Welsh Government will also help shape the programme and identify relevant topics and opportunities for collaboration.

Keep an eye on this page and our social media for upcoming events and booking information.

What would you like us to cover?

Help shape the Knowledge Transfer programme: We want the Knowledge Transfer programme to focus on the issues, opportunities and areas of interest that matter to people working across the Forestry & Timber sector.

You can help us shape the programme by telling us about:

  • Topics you'd like to learn more about

  • Challenges or issues you would like to explore with others

  • Skills, knowledge or new approaches that could be useful to you or your organisation

  • Types of events or activities that would work well for you

  • Ideas for speakers, organisations or people who could bring useful knowledge or experience to the sector

You don't need to have a fully formed idea, even a suggestion for a topic or an issue you'd like to understand better is useful.

We'll use your feedback, alongside sector engagement, market intelligence, participant needs and emerging priorities, to help decide the focus of future Knowledge Transfer events.
