Forestry Learning & Development 2026
Supporting skills, learning and development across the Welsh forestry and timber sector
Overview
Focus on Forestry First has been appointed by Welsh Government to deliver a new Forestry Learning & Development Programme supporting people and businesses across the Forestry and Timber supply chain in Wales.
The programme is designed to help people identify their skills and development needs, understand their options and take practical steps towards further learning, training and career progression.
It brings together two complementary strands:
Skills Development Support
Individual support to help eligible participants identify their development needs, develop a practical Skills Development Plan (SDP) and explore relevant training, funding, careers and progression opportunities.
Knowledge Transfer
A programme of practical events for people and businesses across the wider sector, providing opportunities to share knowledge, explore emerging issues and good practice, learn from others and make useful connections.
The programme will respond to the needs of the sector. Skills Development Support registrations will help us understand individual and business skills needs, while engagement with the wider forestry and timber sector will help shape the Knowledge Transfer programme and the topics covered.
Our aim is simple: to make it easier for people working in, entering and supporting the forestry and timber sector to understand their development options and access the right support.
