Please be aware, this is a 2 day event.
The course is divided into 4 main sessions as follows:
Session 1: Climate Change - facts for foresters
Session 2: Designing for climate change
Session 3: Managing for climate change
Session 4: Mitigation of climate change and its effects
Sessions 2 and 3 are supported by practical site visits to new planting sites and mature woodland.
Learner Outcomes
- Understand the factors contributing to climate change, list the range of predicted scenarios and their potential impacts upon British forestry management 
- Demonstrate an understanding of the techniques required to plan for the creation of new woodlands or urban forests considering the impacts of climate change 
- Demonstrate an understanding of the techniques required to manage existing woodland in a productive and sustainable fashion within the predicted effects of climate change 
- To differentiate between climate change adaptation and mitigation and the application of the latter. 
Programme
The course starts at 9.30am on Day One and finishes at 5.00pm. Mid-morning and mid-afternoon breaks and 45 mins for lunch.
The course starts at 9.00am on Day Two and finishes at 4.30pm. There is a short written assessment at the end of the day. Mid-morning and mid-afternoon breaks and 45 mins for lunch.
